Mariam, a young rebellious woman of Sahrawi origin, is deported from Barcelona to the Moroccan-occupied Western Sahara. Facing loss of identity and struggling to fit in, she is welcomed with love but subjected to family pressures and conflicts, seeking refuge in hashish trafficking. She tries to revive her love with Sidahmed, but their difficulties drive them apart. Without a job or autonomy, her life becomes more alienating. After Sidahmed's suicide, desperate, she attempts a new escape to Europe on her uncle's fishing boat, finally finding the answer to her longed-for question about her identity as she floats in the ocean.
