After being rejected by his parents for his homosexuality, Tadashi leaves home to try to fulfil his dream of becoming an onnagata: an actor who represents female characters in the tradition of kabuki theatre. However, not being part of any lineage of performers and being half-Japanese, half-Spanish, he is not accepted in traditional theatre circles, so he decides to go to Spain in search of a better future. A few years later, now living in Madrid, Tadashi will meet Liu, a young Chinese journalist who will interview him and not will only make him go back in time to relive his most intimate memories, but also change him forever.
