Joy (16) awakens in a vast void along with other people who have recently passed away. She is told that she is worthy of a future utopian life. But she rejects it because she feels responsible for the death of her parents. Her parents are trapped in the terrible City of Lost Souls. Joy is determined to go and get her parents out of there. This is a problem for the security assistant Oogle (16) who is handcuffed to her. The blame for the death of Joy's parents lies with the megacorporation H&H, which not only operates in the world of the living, but also runs the afterlife. Joy will try to find her parents so they can destroy H&H.
